Moms - you know that feeling that you get during pregnancy? The one that screams "I'm soooo done, just let me hold this baby already!" Yeah, that's how I feel right now. Only, I don't have a due date, nor do I have an ultrasound to see my baby's features. In fact all I have is a mound of paperwork that tells me that my time is coming soon. The anticipation and the waiting are killing me! I long for my daughter who waits on the other side of the world. It's crazy isn't it? That is the best I know how to describe my recent emotions. It is so real and yet some days it feels as though it will NEVER happen. This is the longest pregnancy I've ever had! We started the adoption process in November of 2012, but my longing for this child has been far longer. I can't wait to see our baby girl and to finally hold her.
We have completed all the necessary paperwork, and hopefully it is moving through the translation phase in China. Until we receive a referral, there is nothing left for me to do. Although the paperwork was overwhelming and seemed never-ending, at least I had something to keep me busy, it felt like I was at least accomplishing something to bring us closer. Now we just wait. And wait, and then wait some more.
Here are the things we do in the meantime:
Sean: works a million hours to pay for the adoption, on day(s) off works on house, tries to keep his wife sane, prays that we will soon meet our girl
Rachel: sells dolls (drives herself crazy because she really isn't knowledgeable in sewing), considers other fundraisers (decides its too overwhelming), buys things for daughter without knowing age/size (realizes that its a bad idea but can't stop), prays that we will soon meet our girl
Noah: switches school mid-year (still keeps his cool), prays that we soon meet his sister
Benjamin: prays that we soon meet his sister, argues over who she will love more
Teagan: prays that we will soon meet her sister, prepares for a new sister by making scrapbooks for her, pictures of her, songs about her, stories about her, and insists that her sister will love her most of all
So yep, that is our life right now. I should enjoy this downtime, the calm before the storm as they say. But unfortunately waiting mom=crazy mom. :) Hopefully in the next couple months I will be sharing all about our beautiful baby girl that we have fallen in love with across the ocean.
