Part of our fundraising for adoption expenses included me making dolls.
I came up with the doll design myself, drew it out and made a pattern, and figured out how to make my vision into a doll. Each one was handmade with love and care. I posted some pics online and was able to sell about 20 dolls. The dolls went to Colorado, Canada, and lots to friends in our own community. One order asked for two dolls: one with black skin and the other white.

My friend planned to give one doll to her daughter, and take the other with her on a mission trip to Haiti. Well, this mission trip was just last month and I got an awesome update in my email. The girl that received the doll was an orphan, found wandering the streets of Haiti as a toddler. She was taken in by a family but was never given a name, and her job had been to sit and sell soda and candy to the school kids. Always looking but never able to go in. During the trip, the mission agency was able to get her a birth certificate (a name and age) and send her to school like all the other children she had watched for years. My friend also gave her the doll she had saved. She told me that it was so special to the little girl to have a doll that looked like her.
Who would have thought? It is so amazing to me how God used this silly little fundraiser idea to touch a child in Haiti. Its humbling and I am so glad to have this story to tell Chloe about her journey to her forever family.
